So, I decided to make a replacement solution on my own (as with the MM5740AAE/N). You can find the 3600PRO IC very easily, but this IC is only suited for the Apple IIe/IIc computers. The AY-5-3600 chip from GI is difficult to find on the web. The Apple II+ keyboard is a combination of an encoder PCB and a keyboard PCB. Unfortunately, the keyboard was partially dead, some column drivers of the AY-5-3600 IC were shorted to -12Vdc. The only thing still functional out of the box, was the power supply!Īfter cleaning up the motherboard (with warm water and contact cleaner), reseating the IC’s, the mother turned out to be OK as well! The computer was a real mess, unkown condition, dirty beyond recognition. I acquired a later Apple II+ computer from ebay with serial A2S2-377010, build week main board 08117 for less than $100.
